Cat and Dog Dreams

These are two of the most common dream animals precisely because they live so close to us. Read their behaviour as a report on trust, independence and care.

A cat scratching or attacking you

An aggressive cat usually points to an area of your life where independence has turned into isolation, or where someone's self-containment feels like rejection to you.

A dog biting you

A dog bite in a dream frequently signals betrayal from a source you trusted, since dogs represent loyalty; the bite is the shock of that loyalty failing or being tested.

A stray or lost cat or dog

A stray animal usually represents a need, your own or someone else's, that is currently unmet and looking for a home. It often appears when you have been neglecting a part of yourself that wants care.

A dead pet, cat or dog

The death of a familiar animal in a dream usually reflects grief, real or anticipated, and is especially common after an actual pet has died or aged.

A kitten or puppy

Young animals usually represent a new but fragile form of trust or independence, something recently begun that still needs protection.
